Individual training courses

INDIVIDUALITY is a top priority in our training courses.

Put together your own individual training package with our individual training modules. This allows you to determine the focus of the training yourself and have your relevant topics explained by our experts in practical training sessions.

The individuality of the training courses increases both their efficiency and the associated training success enormously. In addition, you can choose between basic and in-depth training for each module, so that everyone receives the right training for their current level of knowledge.

Special requests, such as ensuring the accessibility of your own applications, are discussed in a preliminary meeting to further increase the benefits of the training. With the training documents created especially for you, you can apply the knowledge gained directly in practice.

Choose your training location

We offer you a choice of three training locations so that we can meet your needs perfectly. This allows you to make optimum use of your time resources and customize the training to suit your individual needs.

  • Inhouse-Trainings
  • Papenmeier in Schwerte
  • External training rooms can be rented on request

Individual training vs. group training

Choose between individual training and group training. Of course, you also have the option of opting for a “mix” of both variants. In a company training course, different participants can take part in the modules relevant to them and thus make efficient use of the working day despite further training. For group training courses, we recommend a maximum number of 8 participants.

Our training modules

The individual contents of the different modules can be freely combined and are put together according to your wishes.

As the name “Basic” suggests, this module covers the basics of IT accessibility. Here, we examine the topic of accessibility from all relevant angles to give you a perfect introduction to this complex area of information technology.

Our trainers will first introduce you to the most important legal regulations that you need to know in relation to accessibility and inclusion. This will be followed by an excursion into the existing standards that must be taken into account when creating accessible applications. We will explicitly address the difference between accessibility and usability and illustrate this with meaningful examples.

Raising awareness of the different needs of people with various disabilities is another very important part of our module. This section serves to create a better understanding of the special requirements of this user group.

From this new perspective, we will look at the functionalities and the importance of assistive technology for accessibility.
Understanding how assistive technology works is an important criterion for developers to program accessible applications. That’s why we go into detail about how assistive technology works during training sessions with developers. The practical demonstration shows you the various barriers and how these can be prevented during programming.

Content

  • Examples of common barriers and prevention methods
  • Legal regulations on accessibility and inclusion
  • Standards and recommendations for creating IT accessibility
  • Difference between accessibility vs. usability
  • Needs of users with disabilities
  • Functions and importance of assistive technology incl. working methods of users of assistive technology (especially for developers)

In our “Applications” module, we provide you with in-depth knowledge for the design of accessible applications. We tailor the training content to the interface technology and programming language relevant to you. Our trainers will use code examples in the respective programming language to show you the most frequently occurring problems and present specific preventative measures.

Best and worst practices are used to illustrate the effects of non-accessible applications. The focus is on raising awareness of the behavior of assistive technologies.

To ensure that all users can work efficiently, we will go into the common Microsoft keyboard shortcuts and explain how to integrate them.

Another point is the presentation of relevant test tools with which you can check the basic accessibility of your programming.

After the training course, you will be equipped to program accessible applications and know what you need to pay attention to in your daily work to ensure IT accessibility.

Content

  • Accessible programming under the interface technology used (C++, C#, Visual Basic, Java, Java FX, .NET, HTML/CSS, Microsoft Silverlight …)
  • Typical error representation of the surface technology used based on sample examples
  • Preventive measures
  • Tools in different IT environments
  • Expectation-compliant keyboard shortcuts
  • Presentation of relevant testing tools
A globe with the word "WEB" in a circle with dots

The “Web” module prepares you perfectly for designing accessible internet and intranet sites and web-based applications. The training focuses on navigation, structuring, navigation and consistent labeling.

Well-designed navigation is an essential component for websites and web applications to ensure accessibility. Our trainers will show you common sources of error and explain what you need to look out for in accessible navigation.

The topic of structuring will provide you with new insights for the areas of structure, organization and grouping, so that errors are avoided and you score points with your customers with a well thought-out structure.

Another component of our web module deals with the consistent and consistent labeling of built-in elements. Here, we focus on software ergonomics and, among other things, introduce you to expectation conformity and the associated “to do’s”.

Content

  • Webbased Applications
  • Navigation
  • Structuring
  • Continuous and consistent labeling

The “Documents” module shows you from the ground up how to create accessible documents correctly. You can choose between the document formats PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

For each format, we show you step by step how to ensure accessibility and what you should pay attention to. Of course, we also address the special features and frequently occurring problems of each format. This provides you with an optimal guide that will offer you lasting benefits.

Similar to the “Web” module, we focus in particular on navigation, structuring and consistent labeling.
